In danger? Call 10111

Ubonile?

Did you see?

After a crime, the evidence is often already out there, on a shop's CCTV, a stranger's dashcam, someone's phone. Nobody knows to look, and it is overwritten within days. Ubonile asks the people who were there, keeps them hidden, and gets what they have to the investigating officer.

Free. No app needed. No one has to knock on a stranger's door.

How one question reaches the person who saw it

  1. 1

    Someone asks

A victim, a family or an investigating officer sets the place, the time and what to look for.

  2. 2

    A person checks it

Every request is reviewed before it goes out. Names and accusations come out. Risky cases wait for an officer.

  3. 3

    The question spreads

A link for WhatsApp and Facebook, a poster for the shop counter, and a private nudge to nearby camera owners.

  4. 4

    Anyone can answer

Footage, a photo, a voice note or a few written lines. No account and no app. Your identity stays hidden.

  5. 5

    It gets sealed

Encrypted, fingerprinted, and written into a log that can't be quietly changed.

  6. 6

    The officer gets it

Only an officer we have verified ourselves can open it. A case number alone unlocks nothing.

You stay hidden.

In South Africa nobody should have to wonder who will see their gate in a video. So we made it a rule, and built the system so that rule holds even if someone here wants to break it.

How we protect you, and what we can't promise
  • The public

Nothing you send. Ever. No gallery and no comments.

  • The person who asked

Only that something has arrived, and when the officer opened it. Never what it is or who sent it.

  • The investigating officer

What you sent, after we confirm them by phoning their station ourselves. Your name only if you agree.

  • Ubonile staff

Nothing by default. Looking takes two people and a written reason, and it goes on the case record.
